XSIM-HILS is the latest evolution of S-PLANE’s hardware-in-the-loop simulation (HILS) products. Building on the proven reliability and performance of the HILS-203R, XSIM-HILS delivers even greater flexibility, enhanced configurability, and an unmatched quantity and diversity of I/O.
XSIM-HILS is an advanced and comprehensive system-wide hardware-in-the-loop simulator engineered to meet the increasing complexity and performance requirements of modern airborne mission and flight-critical systems through all stages of development, testing, and verification. The XSIM-HILS combines modular hardware, high-performance simulation software and advanced processing power to create a real-time testing environment that accurately replicates real-world operating conditions. XSIM-HILS can be used for both subsystem and full system testing, verification and validation, qualification and integration, making it ideal for use throughout the development and maintenance life cycle.
The simulator integrates seamlessly with S-PLANE‘s X-Series and NX-Series flight and mission computers, while also maintaining compatibility with third-party equipment. It thereby enables HILS of flight-critical sub-systems (such as flight computers) and mission-critical sub-systems (such as ISR payloads and mission computers). XSIM-HILS is further supported by XSIM-Workbench, a Windows-hosted application which allows users to control simulations, monitor performance in real time, trigger events, and download log data after execution. Users can simulate various operational scenarios including environmental disturbances and failure modes and conditions. These events can be scripted or triggered live during simulations to evaluate system responses under challenging conditions.
XSIM-HILS includes optional model libraries covering aircraft dynamics, sensors, actuators, propulsion systems, environmental effects and ISR mission payloads, enabling rapid builds of system and subsystem simulations. Users can also develop and integrate their own custom models, offering flexibility for specialised hardware, software, or mission-specific requirements.
XSIM-HILS is available in both development and integration configurations, with each variant supporting desktop use and rack-mounted installation. The development version provides easy access to individual ports for engineering flexibility, while the integration version uses concentrated industry-standard connectors for seamless application in integration and production facilities. With support for up to four I/O port Expansion Units, XSIM-HILS has unparalleled I/O quantity and diversity which can scale to meet the demands of increasingly complex systems, helping to reduce costs, improve safety, and dramatically reduce time to deployment.
